Tracy Ou

Tracy is a registered nurse and certified professional in healthcare quality. She is experienced in guiding and coaching nursing leaders through quality improvement initiatives from the unit to the hospital level at Stanford Health Care. Tracy has clinical nurse experience in adult medicine and oncology. She earned her Master’s in Healthcare Administration & Interprofessional Leadership from UCSF. She is passionate about improving systems to prevent patient falls in the hospital and leveraging meaningful data to drive change. Tracy is a native of California Bay Area. She is an outdoor enthusiast and enjoys camping, climbing, snowboarding, and exploring nature in the area. Playing board games is her favorite way to spend time with friends and family

Jake Mickelsen

Jake is a certified improvement practitioner with experience building healthcare improvement capacity across the globe. His improvement teaching and coaching have served major institutions such the as Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia, the University of Kansas Medical Center, the All India Institute for Medical Sciences in New Delhi, and AIC Kijabe Hospital in Kenya. Through these experiences, he has coached hundreds of healthcare improvement projects and co-authored over a dozen quality improvement articles in medical journals. Outside of his role as director at Stanford Health Care, he also serves as a faculty fellow for the Stanford Center for Innovation in Global Health where he directs global learning collaboratives for hospitals in low- and middle-income countries, which he has been doing since 2017. At his roots, Jake was raised on a potato farm and horse ranch in Southeast Idaho. He now lives with his wife Chelsea and 4 children in Half Moon Bay, CA where they have lived since 2014.
