Ingraining Equity Concerns into Performance Improvement Methodology: The Montefiore Experience

May 27th, 2025

Performance improvement methodologies do not traditionally include any structures that encourage analysis of how bias, inequity, or social drivers of health (SDOH) contribute to outcomes. The Montefiore Center for Performance Improvement developed a novel quality improvement (QI) toolkit that ingrains these issues into the Institute for Healthcare Improvement's Model for Improvement. Dr. Ganz-Lord will talk through the rationale for changing the existing process, the barriers to implementing the amended tools, and the data supporting the effectiveness of using this approach.
